Join the Mezza’s favorite Author, Julia McDermott, this Labor Day Weekend for a blend of Inspiration and Creativity!!!! A personal invite from Julia to all our Mezza followers, friends and family.
The 14th annual AJC Decatur Book Festival to be held over Labor Day Weekend is free to the public and features authors of all genres who come to connect with attendees and to talk about their work. On Saturday, Aug. 30 from 4-5pm, I’ll appear at the DBF with the Atlanta Writers Club to sign copies of my books, and on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1:15, I’ll moderate a Memoir/Essay panel of four nonfiction authors, whose books are a mélange of inspiration and creativity drawn from their real-life experiences.
The Best of the Nest is a splendid collection of the author’s acclaimed column, Robin’s Nest, and her wit and warmth will make you laugh and sometimes shed a tear. A Look Back in Time is a fascinating chronicle of life growing up as a military kid in the 1950s, a “Wonder Years” in Germany in an unforgettable era. A Gracious Heresy is the story of a naïve, flawed, and unconventional woman whose courageous spiritual journey is at times messy and evident in small daily acts of joy. And A Blended Cup of Joe offers much-needed guidance about how to have and maintain a successful, loving marriage, weaving in a Christian, biblical approach to traditional and all types of blended marriages.
I’ll have the honor of posing questions to this group of talented writers, and will facilitate an audience Q&A afterward. As a fellow nonfiction author—my award-winning memoir is titled All the Above: My Son’s Battle With Brain Cancer—I relate to the challenges and rewards of revealing personal emotions and struggles in my own true story.
Please join us at the Marriott Conference Center Auditorium in downtown Decatur on Sunday, and on Saturday afternoon, stop by the AWC booth to chat with me and grab signed copies of my books: All the Above, my novel Daddy’s Girl, and newly published crime fiction anthology Down to the River, featuring my short story, The Riverfest. There’s something for everyone in this wonderful blend of inspiration and creativity!
See you next week…Julia
