I currently have the pleasure of working with Amanda Brown Olmstead of ABOA Associates. Amanda has been on the forefront of All things happening in Atlanta from her very successful Public Relations Firm to her philanthropic ventures. I am happy to not only share one of her favorite recipes but a great story behind it.
” I was thrilled to learn of a book signing for two women from the Mississippi Delta promoting their book, ” Being Dead is No Excuse.” This incredibly amusing book is about the competition between the Episcopal and Presbyterian women preparing bereavement food. From attending their book signing at the Margaret Mitchell House in Atlanta some years ago, I embraced many of the recipes in the book. My favorite is Vodka Cake. I have been serving Vodka Cake at every cocktail buffet, brunch, or dinner party I’ve had since then. Everyone loves this cake and begs for the recipe so here it is:”
Amanda’s World- Famous Vodka Cake
1 box of Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake Mix
1 box of large Jello chocolate pudding mix
1 small box of Jello chocolate pudding mix
1 cup of Wesson Oil
1/2 cup of Vodka
1/2 cup of Kahlua
1 can of Pillsbury mild chocolate Frosting
Beat the eggs first, and then mix all the ingredients together. Use a Bundt Pan and spray heavily with Pam. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Place the cake upside down on a cake stand by carefully loosening the edges of the Bundt Pan with a rubber spatula. Allow the cake to cool approximately 10 minutes, then spread with Pillsbury milk chocolate frosting.
Once you have tried this amazing cake, it will be a favorite. I serve the cake with heavy whipped cream and strawberries on the plate for decoration.
Ok ladies so do not be on a diet when eating this fantastic Dessert. Enjoy!!!
