It’s that time of year! Back to school for the kids! Even though you may not have kids at home, there is still the need to get back into a routine and that includes your exercise routine. Barbecues, weddings and vacations can really affect our attempts at staying on track with our fitness goals. Fall is just around the corner and there will still be distractions, sometimes just getting started is the hardest part.
As I have mentioned before, my first love when it comes to exercise is Jazzercise. I love the dance fitness concept because it makes exercising more enjoyable! I’ve been an instructor for over 20 years. However, with age comes injury, joint issues and a need to rehabilitate. Although I love my Jazzercise, I enjoy finding other forms of exercise to challenge myself and, of course, a format that’s safe and effective for my nagging joints!
Recently, I tried rowing. This low impact, high intensity workout has been around for years. I’ve seen the rowing machines in gyms but they seemed boring and repetitive. A friend encouraged me to try Row House. They have locations in the metro Atlanta area and nationwide. What I learned is this boutique style fitness center offers a challenging combination of classes that incorporate resistance training, rowing and stretching.
Backed by science and data, the benefits of rowing are phenomenal. Each workout produces maximum results by engaging over 86% of your body’s muscles (legs, core, arms, back), delivering the perfect balance of aerobic endurance and muscular strength all in one workout. With the lights down low and the music up, you’ll be swept away into an immersive experience where everyone rows in-sync, and the world outside will cease to exist. It’s just you, your crew and at the end, a good sweat with many calories burned!
From my experience, I think you will love being immersed in this extraordinary community of rowers. The concept is very cool, challenging and FUN! I highly recommend rowing if you need a low impact, high energy workout that will challenge you! Not only did I love the workout, I think it’s good for all ages and athletic abilities. Check out a Row House near you or find a rowing machine in your gym. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!
I tried it and I am currently a member at the Sandy Springs Row House. Jacqueline Grund
