When I do travel, shopping is a must activity. I love to find interesting places and artists who create one-of-a-kind items. On my recent visit to Sedona, I wandered into Tlaquepaque. This unique shopping venue is modeled after a small Mexican-style village. The beautiful grounds with bright flowers and fountains add to the charm. This environment just screams “please buy something.” Of course, I picked one of their top places to do my shopping—The Renee Taylor Gallery. They have two. Once you enter their gallery, you will notice large magnificent and colorful wall art as well as sculptures. Not only art, but jewelry is a focus with lots of designers to choose from. I just loved the staff as well, as they take the time to describe and give you a brief history of the pieces. I chose to buy some very reasonable jewelry for my girls from a South African artist. I just fell in love with the metal colors and design. After making your purchase, you can also enjoy sitting at a cafe or indulging in some great Mexican cuisine at El Rincon. This is truly a must-see when you are in Sedona. Tlaquepaque is a word from the Nahuatl Native Indian language from the Aztecs meaning the “best of everything.” And, Mezza followers, it truly is!
