Dr. Ilysse Moss is back with her picks for your Spring Break Trip…._______________________________________________________________________________There is always something so exciting about starting a new season and integrating what is already in our closet with the new fashion trends. Spring break always has the illusion of freedom and sensuality. One of the most important concepts to consider as we pack our suitcase and get ready for vacation is the versatility of our clothing. Use the multipurpose test to decide what makes it into the suitcase.
A shacket (shirt-jacket) can be a great addition to any trip, because the events of the day determine the function of the garment. Layer a cami, tank, tee, cropped top or bikini top underneath your shacket or just wear it as a shirt. A shacket can even be worn as a bathing suit cover-up. In addition, eyelet and crochet are particularly ideal for spring, because they are filled with an airy look and breezy material. These garments make great spring pieces and show-off our sensuality. There is something about showing skin that shouts spring break. It is artsy and romantic! Eyelet can show more skin or less; it adds interest to any outfit or body type. The sheer look of wearing eyelet over a bathing suit or to cover up the naked body is sensual and sexy.
Shorts, skorts, skirts and dresses also expose skin and add to the illusion of wondering what’s underneath. A jean short in any blue wash or white is a necessity for spring break. Whether you pair it over your bathing suit bottoms or with a tee or short sleeve blouse, it is always nice to have jean shorts for those beach walks. Dresses also provide great options; I love dresses that button from top to bottom because these serve many purposes. These can be worn as toppers too with skinny jeans or shorts as well. Repurpose, reuse and recycle your old dresses and use them as coverups.
Don’t forget that white is such a playful and fresh palette for spring, so a little white or taupe cardigan can go along way. Wearing a long cardigan over shorts or a dress can be a useful piece for those cooler nights. Platform sandals and a bag can be used to introduce a pop of color in these column neutral outfits. Platform sneakers also raise the a spring outfit to a new level. Old garments have become new again, so recycle those cropped jeans or trousers. These calf length pants are like tidal waves in the fashion industry with bold colors or gingham print adding to that retro, comfortable, easy-breezy, beachy vibe. Now, you are set to confidently, comfortably and conveniently pack that spring break suitcase and get onto your Spring Break Destination.
